Hay fever isn't only about pollen. It's about your bucket.

Hay fever isn't only about pollen. It's about your 'bucket'.
🌼Spring arrives and so do the sneezes. The usual explanation is simple: more pollen, more symptoms....But if pollen alone caused hay fever, everybody standing in the same garden would react the same way
So why don't they?
Here is a more useful way to think about it 🤯 Histamine is not the enemy.
It is a messenger.... It helps with stomach acid, with alertness, with your immune response (wowza! Did you know that?) The problem is not that you make it. The problem is when you cannot clear it fast enough.
Here comes the bucket.🧺
Pollen pours in - but it enters with a bucket already almost full with stress, broken sleep, alcohol, a struggling gut, and maybe some of the foods highest in histamine — mature cheese, wine, cured meats, the leftovers that sat a day too long.
All day, quietly, your body tries to empty that bucket again and again - and
symptoms appear when the bucket overflows, not when pollen arrived😵.
Which is exactly why two people in the same garden have two different springs.... Understanding this moves the question from "how do I block the histamine?" to "what else is already in my bucket?"
😴Sleep, because a tired body reacts more.
🍹Alcohol, honestly looked at, because it both adds to the bucket and slows the emptying.
🧘♀️Your gut, because a great deal of histamine is handled there.
🕐And timing — starting before the season rather than in the middle of it.
Antihistamines have their place. They are simply not the whole conversation.
👣Your One Small Step take-away : If spring is hard for you every single year, don't wait for the first sneeze to think about it. Look at what is already in the bucket before the trees blossom.
Be curious and realistic about the level of your bucket. Then take one Small Step to lower it.
